Andrea and Steve
Andrea and Steve met in the summer of 2004 on an internet dating site. Steve was living in the city preparing to take a leave of absence to travel the world, and Andrea was at home for the summer, working for her father and taking calculus classes, awaiting her return to Binghamton in the fall. Their first date was on June 18, 2004. While neither had high expectations for it, the chemistry was undeniable, and they quickly fell in love.
Travel has always been important to Steve and Andrea. After falling in love and knowing that he couldn’t be away from her for months, Steve rearranged his around-the-world journey so that he could share it with Andrea. Together they strolled the beaches and explored the Mayan ruins of Belize, dove the famous Blue Hole, trekked the waterfalls at Iguazu Falls, Brazil, marveled at the blue glaciers in El Califate, Argentina, and enjoyed the vineyards in Mendoza, Argentina.
The end of Steve’s leave did not mean an end to their adventures. Trips to San Francisco and Las Vegas led to more excitement, and local adventures in the Finger Lakes region and in New York City itself helped their relationship grow. Whether touring the gorges, exploring The Gates in Central Park or dancing in a self-made balloon world, it was always clear that Steve and Andrea were deeply in love.
Steve proposed to Andrea on December 18, 2005, their 18 month anniversary, while flying above the Statue of Liberty during a helicopter tour of New York City.
Andrea joyfully agreed, and on October 21, 2006, Steve and Andrea had their biggest adventure yet, as they became husband and wife.
Steve and Andrea share a common passion for the sport of scuba-diving. Andrea was certified in 2000 in the Cayman Islands and Steve was certified in 2004 on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. Together they have dove in Belize, Ft. Lauderdale, Myrtle Beach, and of course, Rangiroa and Bora Bora while on their honeymoon.
In January 2007, Steve resigned from his position as a senior associate at a Wall Street law firm, passing up a chance at partnership for the chance to pursue a dream with Andrea. Similarly, Andrea resigned from her position with a top New York accounting firm, forsaking the stability that had lured her to the accounting profession for the uncertainty and adventure with the man she loves. They trained at ProDive in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and in June, 2007 they were certified as PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors. They have since gone on to receive the Master Scuba Diver Trainer designation, and are certified to teach a number of diving specialties.
On this site we will detail our adventures, sharing stories, thoughts and memories as we make our way through the world, in search of adventure, always in love.
GO TEAM SCHMOOP!
