2,000 Visitors!

I’m very excited to announce that our website has recently been viewed by its 2,000th unique visitor!

This website was started as a way to keep family and friends updated and to share stories as we changed our lives from lawyer and accountant to scuba instructors.  It has by no means become an internet phenomenon, but it is still exciting to think that so many people have taken the time to read about us!

Some interesting facts about our visitors:

People from six continents (all except Antarctica) have been to teamschmoop.com.  From those six continents, 67 separate countries are represented!  The top five countries in terms of number of visitors are the United States, Cayman Islands, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia.  Some of the most interesting countries where visitors to the site hail from are the United Arab Emerites, Nepal, Kuwait, Pakistan and Guadaloupe.

The site has had 28 visits from Hungary and these visitors spent the most time on the site, spending an average of 23 minutes per visit!  We’ve had only one visitor from Columbia, but that person spent over 15 minutes on the site!

The 2,000 visitors have made over 4,300 separate visits (thanks to all of our regulars and repeat readers!!!), and we’ve had over 17,000 page-views!  Three people have even visited the site over the iphone.

Over 27% of our traffic comes from google searches.  Of those people, 9% of them did a google search for Shia Lebeouf.  I have no idea how that gets them to our site, as I never remember mentioning him on here.

The most popular page views are our photo albums, the Andrea and Steve biography, and of course, Duffy’s Corner

The most popular blog entries:  “Only in America or And the Land of the Morbidly Obese“, my blog entry about the Travel Network’s special on the world’s 10 best places to pig out, and “The Team Schmoop Movie Review.”

When I started this blog at the end of 2006, I didn’t have high expectations for it, and I didn’t really expect that it would be around more than a year.  But it has served its purpose very well, providing a forum to share stories and events with family and friends.  I know that I have a steady group of regular readers, ranging from family members to friends back in the US to a bunch of other scuba instructors here in Cayman.  Whether you’re a regular reader or a one time visitor, I’d like to say thanks for helping teamschmoop.com reach this milestone!

Also, special thanks to Jon Marston.  When I first got the idea of creating a website, I had no idea how to do it.  I contacted Jon, who I’d met and hung out with a few times, but was really more of a friend of friends.  Jon didn’t hesitate to help me, and actually spent many hours of his time teaching me how to set up and run a website.  He went above and beyond what most people would do, and he showed that he is a quality guy.  Thanks Jon!!!

And again, thanks to all of you for checking out teamschmoop.com!!!
