Yes, it’s true, this is indeed a wonerful time of year, especially down here in Cayman. There are three main reasons for that.
First, our computer is finally fixed! Luckily it was still under warranty from Dell, and although it took a long time to track down the right branch of Dell customer service that covers the Caribbean, I finally found the right person, and now the computer is up and running again, all on Dell’s tab. Yay!
It’s also wonderful down here because it is warm and sunny (as always), while back in the northeast it is cold and rainy/snowy (or at the very least, just cold). This is our first winter in the Caribbean, and it is so great to be away from the cold. We are really enjoying it down here!
But the most wonderful thing about this time of the year (and this weekend in particular) is that Daylight Savings begins, and it is time to spring forward! Down in Cayman we don’t actually spring forward — the time here will stay the same — but since the east coast of the US springs forward, we fall an hour behind them. Why is that good news, you ask? Because it benefits our TV viewing, of course! Since all of our TV stations are off of east coast feeds, 8pm shows now start at 7pm, 9pm shows at 8pm, etc. That means our prime-time viewing is done at 10pm rather than 11pm. Wonderful, right?!?!?! I know it sounds trivial, but it makes a big difference!
Of course, life has been wonderful in other ways too — we’ve had some job changes, vsitors, and lots of good dives (all to be covered in future posts). But how can any of that compare to a shift in our TV viewing habits? Boy, we really need DVR down here in Cayman….
So to all on the east coast, enjoy springing forward tonight, and remember that while you’re losing an hour of sleep, we’re gaining an hour of TV watching!!
