Happy Thanksgiving to all!! Thanksgiving is the big holiday for my family, so I actually left Cayman for the weekend and came back up to Clifton Park, NY to be with my family. Thanksgiving is a busy time in Cayman for the dive industry, so I’d also like to give a shout-out to my mates at Eden Rock, who are working through the rush without me. And an extra special shout out to Andrea and Duffy, who are also still down on Cayman. Andrea couldn’t get off from work, so she had to stay down here. My family and I all miss her and hope her thanksgiving is good (and that she gives Duffy some extra food to celebrate).
We’ve actually had a bittersweet thanksgiving up here. On Wednesday night my parents received some very sad news — my Grandma Jessie (my mom’s mother) passed away. She was 88 years old, and she was a wonderful lady. I had been planning to surprise my parents with my arrival for the holiday, but I had to tell them about my visit a week ago, because my grandmother was going to have knee surgery and there was the possibility that Thanksgiving plans might change because of it. As it turns out, it’s very fortunate that I came up for the holiday, so that I can be there for my mom during this difficult time. The family did our best to make the most of Thanksgiving and to enjoy the family being together, but my grandmother was (and is) missed.
Despite that, Thanksgiving remains my favorite holiday, so I hope all of you had a fantastic holiday!
