Sorry for the lack of updates, but we are alive and well. As it turns out, power did go off at around 10am, and so we’ve spent the day without power, internet and worst of all, air conditioning. The power came back on around 5pm, and internet just came up a few minutes ago. Unfortunately, air conditioning is still not working, so we might spend the night at the hotel at Cobalt Coast (our landlord owns the hotel and has offered us the use of a room).
I have some pictures and video that i will post soon, but for now I wanted to post and let everyone know that things are good here. Dean missed us to the south, and everyone on the island is very happy about that. Of course, a lot of work was put into hurricane preparation, and now a lot of work will have to be done to get everything back to normal, but that sort of work is much better than if we had to do a huge amount of cleanup after a direct hit.
The bad news is that there is still a long way to go before hurricane season ends, so we may have to go through this again.
We’re off to bed — lots of work to do tomorrow, and sadly none of it involves diving. Look for a full hurricane review soon!
